[The knock at the door is a surprise, and Rogue puts down her book, turns down the music, and approaches it.
The second she opens the door, she's about to slam it shut again, before she reminds herself that she's better than that. That she's supposed to be polite. That's how her mother raised her, and that's how she was going to be, even if Sheva was probably the last person on earth she wanted to see right now.]
What do you want?
[So it wasn't that polite of her. But she was at least trying.]
[Sheva has no urge to put the other woman through any more humiliation or embarrassment, that's for certain. It's why she came at a time where she wouldn't be as put together or smell like Remy, when her weapons were safely stored at home or the firing range. There's not a smugness or lording the situation over her. It's just Sheva, here to talk woman to younger woman.]
Which may not be much, but it's worth a try. [For Remy mostly, but she doesn't voice that. Instead, she offers the other woman the envelope.]
It's a gift certificate that should cover a full day at the spa. I figured you haven't had the opportunity yet to enjoy one properly, and you're definitely in need of something relaxing that doesn't involve shit kicking inanimate objects or drinking. Both of which I totally understand, by the way.
[Why did she have to come with a hatchet to bury? That's what Rogue wanted to know, even as she crossed her arms, looking at the older woman in front of her. She wasn't dressed much better- a pair of jeans, a t-shirt, she'd never been one for getting all dolled up to lay around the house.
Rogue looked at the envelope before taking it, about to ask what was in it before Sheva went and explained herself.]
What do you know about what I have or haven't been able to enjoy? [Well, for starters, she's dating Remy LeBeau who happens to be very intimate with your (former) mutation, Rogue. Besides, she just doesn't want to make this easy.]
[Sheva's there because she loves Remy deeply, and wants to avoid any vengeful behavior, wants to avoid more drama and pain for him especially. Though, there's an honest part of her that's trying to help Rogue. Despite her reaction, she remains relaxed, yet watchful.
Her eyebrow quirks upwards at that question, seeing it as redundant.]
I'd recommend getting the ninety minute massage, the hour always feels too short. They do excellent manicures and pedicures there too. [She motions to her crossed hands evenly.] I noticed the purple when you put them in my face. Purple's my favorite color. Lavender, really.
[Pain. for him. Right. It had to be tearing him up inside, with how oblivious she'd been, how stupid to think a guy like him would ever like a girl like her. Why any guy would, with or without her powers. Cody had been a fluke. Bobby had made a mistake and he had rectified it with Kitty. And Remy just didn't like her. Because he already had his better version of her.
He had her in his reality, and he had Sheva here, why would he ever want tag-along, teenage Rogue?
She tapped her nails on her arm, taking note of Sheva's favorite color just so she knew never to get it done.]
Why are you doing this?
[She needed to know. Why she even cared, or if this was just an elaborate game, or something. She had to stand to gain something from this.]
[Less pain for everyone, in general, or so she'd like to think. Her primary concern is with Remy, who contrary to Rogue's belief, does feel guilty about this all happening, and does care about this Rogue. It's not in the way that she wants or how he cares for the Rogue back home, but it's the main reason she's here. He cares and he's beating himself up over it. But there's that other part of Sheva, the one that can untangle herself from the web, that understands exactly what Rogue's going through on many levels.
And to answer that question? Because Remy's a good person. He's a good man despite his faults.]
Would you rather I came over here physically put you in your place? [Her eyebrow raises curiously, and she watches Rogue's reaction before shaking her head.] Whether you think you need it or not, I'm just trying to help, and unless you want me to take you on a run, shooting at the range, or spar with me in a gym... [Doubtful, and she's not about to suggest drinking with Remy.] Spa sounded like the next best possibility.
[That she knows for a fact. She hadn't caused any divide between Sheva and Remy, and maybe that's what hurts so much. She exists here, and in Remy's world, but he didn't care enough about her to look twice, to think twice about maybe giving her a chance. She'd given Remy ample opportunities. She wasn't any sort of competition.
She never was.
She wasn't beautiful, not the way Sheva was, she was young and stupid, weird looking. She had a gap-tooth because she hadn't been able to afford medical work as a kid. And she was damaged.]
I could take you. [She wasn't the fighter that Remy's Rogue was. She was just a teenage girl here, with a whole lot of intense superhero training behind her. Superhero training that had never actually relied on her powers, giving Rogue ample time to learn how to fight hand-to-hand. So at least, in a physical fight, she stood a chance.]
