History: In Caddlecott County, Mississippi, two people met and fell in love. Owen and Priscilla D'Ancanto got married, and, like anyone, wanted to start a family. However, they were upset to find that Priscilla was unable to bear children. As a result, they settled for adoption. Upon arriving at the adoption agency, they soon fell in love with a young girl with bright green eyes known only as Anna.
The D'Ancanto's soon brought baby Anna home, giving her the second name of Marie. Marie grew up for a short period of time in a hippie commune with her parents, who never tried to hide from her that she had been adoptive. They saw it as a miracle that they had found her, after all. Though, the identity of her birth parents was unknown to all of them. Soon after, however, Owen and Priscilla found Jesus, and Owen found the NRA. Moving out of the commune, they decided to raise Anna Marie to be a proper Southern Belle. Well, Priscilla did. She wanted her life to appear the picture of perfection to anyone outside, though inside the D'Ancanto's home, life was anything but perfect.
By the time Marie turned nine, Owen, in addition to Jesus, had also found beer and money problems. As Owen moved down the path of alcoholism, he began to take his rage out on his daughter, while his wife stood silently by, too afraid to do anything. Often raising his hand to his daughter, she began to rebel more than she had before, trying to keep control of her own life as Priscilla tried to force her even farther into her idea of perfection. This rebelliousness earned her the nickname of Rogue, a name she would later adopt as her own.
Things continued on in this way for seven years, until just after her sixteenth birthday. Marie had invited one of her best friends, Cody Robbins, over to hang out. She had intended to show him the map on her wall she had created, of where she was planning to go after high school, before college. Travel all the way up to Alaska, see the country. One thing lead to another, and Cody leaned forward, giving Marie her first kiss, and his last. As their lips made contact, something happened. Marie found Cody being pulled into her. Scared, she shoved him off of her, but it was too late. Cody was unconscious, and his thoughts were in her head. It was her screams that summoned Owen and Priscilla up to her room. At that moment, all three of them knew it. The mutants they'd been hearing so much on the news? The mutants that Owen and Priscilla hated so much? Their own daughter was one of them.
As Priscilla rushed Cody off to the hospital, Owen stayed behind to give the girl a piece of his mind. Grabbing one of his shotguns, he entered her room to find her already mid-packing. Aiming it at her head, he told her, 'Get the hell out of here. You're no daughter of mine. If I ever see you again, I'll shoot you, like the rogue you are.' She didn't need to be told twice. Grabbing her things, Rogue left that house with no intentions ever to return.
With no place left to go, Rogue, as she was calling herself now, decided to begin her roadtrip. She walked to the edge of town, her hood pulled down low over her eyes, a pair of brown leather gloves over her hands, and stuck out her thumb. Hitchhiking all over the country with, thankfully very few mishaps in regards to her powers, Rogue finally found herself in Alaska a few weeks later. Starving, she made her way into the only bar she could see, just in time to see a rather attractive man in a cage match. She watched for a few moments before heading to the bar, simply to sit and watch. Unable to have anything other than water, she hoped someone would take pity on her. Before anyone could, however, the man who had previously won the cage match approached, asking for a beer. Just as he did so, the loser of the cage match approached as well, declaring that the first man had cheated. Seeing that the second man was about to throw a punch, she called out to the first man, "Look out!". Her cry alerted him to the second man, and the first man reacted, three silver claws extending themselves from his knuckles. She heard a click, and turned in time to see the bartender holding a shotgun to the first man, telling him to leave. She saw her chance.
Sneaking out the other way, she hid in the back of his trailer, hiding under the tarp. This lasted for a few hours before the car came to a stop and the tarp was pulled from over her. The man had, somehow, found out she was there. Leaving her by the side of the road, she called out for his assistance, letting him know that, after all, she had saved his life. He got back in his car and drove about five feet before coming to a stop, letting her join him-- this time in the passenger seat. The man introduced himself as Wolverine, well, Logan. He was gruff, but there was something about him that she was drawn to. Before they could get far, disaster struck, and a tree fell in front of the car., sent by a strange, feral looking man. The car hit the tree, and Logan was launched out the window, as Rogue was pinned to her seat. Noticing a fire beginning in the back, she thought all hope was lost. The second she thought that, however, two people seemingly appeared out of nowhere. A beautiful African woman with white hair, and a handsome, tall man with a strange sort of visor. After releasing her from the car just in time, and dispatching the attacker, they gathered her and Logan up, before taking then back to their mode of transportation: a jet.
In the jet, they explained that they were the X-Men, mutants like her, who that were there to protect people, human and mutant alike. They came from a school in Westchester, New York, for mutants, and that was where they were taking her and Logan. It was then that Rogue decided she wanted nothing more than to be a part of the X-Men.
Back at the school, Rogue met the rest of the staff, and was integrated into the school after a variety of tests run on her about the nature of her powers. Along the way, she met John Allerdyce, a rather attractive boy with a rebellious stream that outmatched even hers, and a sweet boy named Bobby Drake.
A few days later, after Logan was released from the infirmary, a nightmare woke Rogue from her sleep. Unsure of what else to do, she went to Logan's room, trying to carefully wake him. It wasn't good enough, as he woke with a roar, stabbing her through the chest with his claws. Out of desperation, she reached forward, gently caressing his cheek as he withdrew his claws from her. It did as she wanted, and his healing factor was translated to her. By the time she was healed, and Logan hit the floor, various members of the staff and students had come to see what the matter was. Embarrassed and scared, Rogue quickly left the room.
The next day, she was approached by Bobby Drake on one of the benches. He'd heard about what had happened the night before and came to warn her. The professor was mad. And she needed to leave. She didn't need to be told twice. Packing her bag again, the girl took off, running for the nearest train station. Just as it was about to leave the station, a man came to sit next to her. Logan. Taking her in his arms, he convinced her to come back to the school. But things it seemed, could never be simple. The train was hijacked by a mutant known as Magneto. Trying to run, Magneto quickly overtook her, and knocked her unconscious. When she awoke, she was handcuffed to a pipe on a boat, gloveless. She soon learned, Magneto and his cohorts, Mystique and Sabretooth planed to kill her.
That wasn't going to happen, as it turned out. Refusing to give up on her Logan and the X-Men arrived to save her, but not before Magneto was able to touch her, activating the machine she was trapped in. Crying out in pain, she was sure it was the end, but the X-Men didn't give up. Logan and Mr. Summers managed to stop the machine in time. Taking her in his arms, Logan thought for sure the limp, unconscious girl was dead. Gently kissing the top of her head, Logan transferred his powers to her, waking her up, and knocking himself out. Rescued by the X-Men once again, they made their way back to the school where both Rogue and Logan spent a few days in the infirmary. Rogue was the first to heal, however, though the white streaks she had received at the front of her hair as a result of the machine were permanent.
Over the next few days, Rogue refused to leave Logan's side, finally being torn away by the combined efforts of Kitty, Bobby and John. It was then that Logan awoke, and quickly sought her out. Telling her he had to leave, he promised her he'd return, giving her his dog-tags as a sort of collateral. Now, with Logan gone, Rogue began to fully adapt to life at the school. She had found a best friend in Kitty, a good friend in John, and a boyfriend in Bobby. Interestingly though, it was only when Bobby asked her out that John began to actively dislike her.
A few months later, Logan returned, having completed his soul searching mission. As if bad luck seemed to follow him everywhere, that night the institute was attacked by a man known as General Stryker. Rogue managed to escape with Bobby, John and Logan, and the four of them took off for Bobby's home in Boston. After a run-in with the cops (thanks, John!) they were picked up by Storm and Dr. Grey, and after meeting up with Magneto and Mystique, much to Rogue's chagrin, the they of them realized they all had the same goal: Get the Professor back, and rescue the students who had been taken. Well, Magneto mostly wanted revenge. Forced to stay in the jet while the X-Men, Magneto and Mystique did their thing, Rogue was dismayed to find John refused to stay. As he left the jet, she couldn't help but feel that they'd lost him, not only as a friend, but as an ally, forever.
After driving the jet to the appropriate pick-up spot, Rogue and Bobby welcomed the X-Men and the missing students back on board. There was no time to waste, however, as the dam was breaking, and threatening to flood where they were. Unfortunately, the jet was not taking off in time. Thanks to a heroic sacrifice by Dr. Jean Grey, the students and X-Men were safe. But their job wasn't over yet. Now promoted to the position of X-Men, Rogue and Bobby accompanied the X-Men to Washington DC, to inform the president what had just happened, as well as explain the attempt on his life.
Personality: As if the accent didn't tell you, Rogue is a Southern Belle. Or at least, that was how she raised. Priscilla, her adoptive mother, decided that she needed to be the perfect Southern woman. As a result, Rogue is nice and hospitable, unless you've pissed her off, but even then she maintains a sort of grace about it. It takes a lot to make her loose control, and she practices maintaining her control every day for fear of what would happen if she lost it. Even if she's angry with you, she won't be outright rude. She'll be rude in a subtle way, finding a way to knock your ego down a few pegs. Occasionally, this involves her throwing something she has absorbed from you back in your face, though she hates to do it. Anything to keep people at bay and herself safe, however. Still, she's got a sharp tongue and isn't afraid to tell people what she thinks.
On a similar note, Rogue will throw as many punches as need be to keep people at a distance. She's afraid that if anyone gets close they'll abandon her, as most people have done throughout her life. As a result, she's on lockdown about her life before the Institute, and even parts of it that happened afterward. If she says anything about this to you, you can guarantee it's a slip up. Be aware, however, the harder Rogue fights you, chances are the more she likes you in one way or another. It's easier to fight, she's realized, than let someone in.
Wanting to keep people at bay, Rogue is often sarcastic and bitter. It's a natural defense mechanism, and she often deploys it around those she's known for a longer period of time, and those that she doesn't particularly like. When she first meets someone, she'll be friendly, as anyone would be, of course. She is just used to people not giving her a chance, going off of here-say rather than actually getting to know her. Though, while she is still bitter and sarcastic, she's a nice girl who does like to smile- it's simply that few have seen it. You can count on her to be there for you as best she can, and is loyal until you do something to deserve her turn. Then you're going to wish you hadn't.
Rogue was once called the 'Patron Saint of Been-There'. Only eighteen, Rogue's been through a whole hell of a lot, and she recognizes this. As a result, she's happy to lend an ear to people who need it. She likes to reach out to new students and make them feel welcomed like she was when she'd first arrived at the Institute. Of course, this is part of because she'd rather them get to know her through herself rather than hear what everyone else has to say about her first.
She's done things she's regretted, and as a result, is often plagued by her past. Lately, however, Rogue has been trying to get past this. She's trying to move on with her life and deal with each day as it comes rather than living in the past. Subsequently, she's doing a lot better as far as her emotions go, and is generally a more pleasant person to be around.
Rogue has always been a bit of a rebel. After all, that's how she got her name. Priscilla was quite the control freak, and as a result, Rogue tried to do everything she could to maintain some of who she was. Incidentally, it is part of Priscilla's upbringing that most likely factors into part of why Rogue cannot control her powers. Though since Rogue's powers arrived, she's found herself falling more and more into line, because she worries about hurting people. Of course, she's still got her rebellious streak, and has yet to lose her old Southern sass.
Gifted with a strong fight or flight instinct, Rogue is one to leave rather than deal with the hard stuff. She firmly believes that she can runaway from her problems, even though they have a habit of catching up with her. She'll either do this by physically leaving, or taking another way around it, trying to ignore the problem until it goes away. Unfortunately, this often tends to bite her in the ass.
Most people think Rogue tends to complain a lot, and while she may do it on occasion (who doesn't), she's most often simply stating the facts. She's extremely aware of the reality of her powers, and her life, and is slowly coming to accept it. It may seem like whining, but it's fact stating, and she's starting to get really irritated when people confuse the two of them.
Ask her how she's doing and Rogue will often tell you she's doing fine. She couldn't be farther from that. Because of her mutation, as well as recent events in her life, Rogue is a severely depressed individual. Though she's working hard to better herself, her depression still deserves to be noted. Of course, life at the Institute isn't going to change just for her. But it's difficult, as she'll tell you if you ask, watching people at school touch as if it were nothing, like it weren't a gift. She has to live with the fact that she will never be able to touch another living person. She'll never be able to have a normal relationship, have a family. That takes it's toll on someone. You'd have to be stupid not to see it.
Abilities, Weaknesses and Power Limitations: Rogue's powers are quite complicated, and not at all pleasant to live with. Rogue has been 'gifted' with the ability to absorb powers, memories, and personality via skin-to-skin contact. This would be awesome, if it weren't for the fact that she cannot control her mutation, leaving her incapable of physical contact. Her powers allow her to, with a single touch, gain important information or abilities such as, for example, flight, when it is needed. Unfortunately, she is unable to keep a stock of these abilities in her head, and the length these abilities remain depends on how long the contact is maintained. This often leaves the 'victim' for lack of better word weak or unconscious. If contact is maintained for too long of a period, the transfer can become permanent with the victim lying dead as a result.
Rogue's absorption powers often extend to physical characteristics as well. If, say, she touched Beast, the white streaks in her hair would turn blue and her nails would grow, while if she touched Pixie, her eyes would take on her characteristic black hue. Growing something, such as wings or a tail, however, would take prolonged skin-contact, and she really has no desire to try this out for herself.
Ironically, if she touches someone, she receives full control of their powers, even if they themselves lack the control. For example, if she touched Cyclops, she would be able to control his optic blasts.
The longer she touches someone, the longer she retains their powers for. This also translates to the more damage she does to someone. When it comes to Rogue's death touch, everyone is on the same playing field. Even someone with enhanced stamina would feel the same effects as someone without it.
Whenever she touches someone, the process is painful for both parties. For the victim, it feels almost as if you are falling into a vacuum. However, there is something about her mutation that makes the victim not want to let go. They want to keep touching her. Rogue, on the other hand, feels the opposite. She feels everything rushing into her, and experiences all the memories she receives (most often the strongest memories-- be this most important, most recent, most horrific, best, it all depends on the person). yet, Rogue too has to fight not to hold on. As much as she hates it, she loves the feeling of touching someone-- just the skin contact. She hates everything else that comes with it.
This power is not without it's draw backs- Rogue runs the risk of all the personalities that she has absorbed running loose in her mind, as well as their memories. In fact, at this moment, for her the absorption process is painful, leaving her often slightly disoriented and in pain. Of course, one of the most important drawbacks to any teenage girl is this simple fact: Rogue is unable to control her powers. This means, she is unable to touch anyone, ever, or run the risk of hurting them when she doesn't want to.
The longer Rogue touches you, the more damage she does. At Professor Xavier's estimate, touching someone for only 10 seconds would leave them dead, while 8-9 seconds would leave them in a coma. Interestingly enough, Rogue's powers take a second or two to warm up. That doesn't mean you won't feel something odd when you touch her, even for a second.
If someone is inorganic, Rogue cannot absorb them. So, if she were to touch someone made of metal, there would be no transfer, and neither girl would feel anything as a result. Rogue is also unable to absorb animals.
The greatest drawback Rogue has with her powers, other than her inability to touch, is that she hates to use them. The memories of everyone floating in her head is often too much for her to handle, and as a result of their voices in her head, she is plagued by nightmares. Because of this, and the pain it causes anyone she touches, she is only likely to use her mutation in dire circumstances. Lately though, she has been working on the concept of suffering for the sake of suffering, or suffering for the sake of saving someone.
ADDITIONALLY: Rogue cannot fly a plane, but she can drive a car. She speaks fluent French and English, is an accomplished pianist, and is quite a brawler in a fight.

Appearance: Anna Paquin
Rogue is pleasing to look at, to say the least. While she is not drop-dead gorgeous (something she considers a blessing in her unique case) though some would argue that drop-dead gorgeous was a pun and indeed she was, she's pretty enough. Her skin is pale, not a fault of climate but simply lack of exposure to sun. Her nose is neither small nor large, falling comfortably in the middle. It's rounded slightly at the end as well with a gentle slope. There's room for improvement, but no one is perfect, least of all when it comes to noses. Her lips are full with a pronounced cupid's bow. Yes, all in all, she is quite pretty, you could say. Her face itself is heart-shaped, made better by her high cheekbones. She has a natural pink undertone to her skin, giving her a rather rosy complexion. As far as makeup goes, she likes to keep it relatively natural if she wears any at all. Mostly just mascara and blush, with the occasional lipstick. She is fond of eyeshadow and eyeliner, however, though these colors generally remain natural when she wears them.
Rogue is slim for the most part, but she has her curves. Her breasts are a full C cup, in fact. Her waist is small, and she's not too terrifically athletic looking. Despite her height being average, she really is a rather small girl.
Due to the nature of her powers, Rogue covers up at almost every opportunity. She is almost never seen without gloves, unless, for example, you catch her in the middle of the night.
Rogue's ears are pierced three times in each ear.
Rogue's auburn hair features a prominent white streak at the front of her hair, the result of a kidnapping by Magneto.
In addition to a variety of scars from childhood (a few particularly bad ones can be seen on her back)
Rogue has three scars on her chest and back where she was stabbed by Logan.

Log Sample: How long had Rogue been here? Honestly, the girl had no idea. It was hard to keep track of days in space. Sure, they had watches and clocks, and 24-hour time was easy enough for someone who had been training with the X-Men for the past year or so of her life. The hallways reminded her of the sub-basement of the X-Mansion, but that hardly made it easier to navigate them, relying on the wall-markings and asking questions whenever she needed. She knew the way from her quarters to the kitchens, holo-decks, med-bay, as well as the oxygen gardens. But all of it… Well, it bothered her. Not just because she woke up here one day, but because this ship was so big. Big, and nearly completely unexplored.
Once upon a time, when she'd been a kid and carefree, she would have had no problem going exploring. But now, well, after what she'd been told had happened in the past month, sorry, there was no way she was going without a team to back her up. And even then? It's not like her powers were really that useful in a fight, especially against some big bad unknown. What would even happen, anyway? Touch a manticore, grow a scorpion tail? Gain monster-memories? Some things use really didn't want to find out.
For now, Rogue was content keeping up with her training, jogging around the Oxygen Gardens when she had time, working out in her room, going over her hand-to-hand routines. She never particularly enjoyed exercise, but it was a necessary evil. Heavens forbid she made her way back to New York and had fallen completely out of shape.
Just another reason that she was sure her relationship with Bobby Drake would eventually end.
Bobby… Whatever he was doing right now… Hopefully he was okay. Hopefully, he missed her. Though with her track record, she'd be damned if they didn't all think she'd run-away again. Wouldn't be the first time.
This time, though, no one would be able to find her.
Comms Sample: Alright, everybody, can we have a chat? [A young woman with bright green eyes, and even more noticeably, two white streaks of hair framing her face, a stark contrast from her brown hair, appears on the screen. She speaks with a Southern accent.]
Look, now, I mean, we're all stuck on this place together, right? No way off as far as we know, no way back to our homes. And some of ya'll have been on here for over two years? [Yikes, she really doesn't want to think about that.] I mean, that's what I've been hearing from everyone- I've already been briefed on all'a that. But that's not the point.
The point is, ya'll've been on here for over two years now and none of you've figured out a way to make it so that we actually wake up outta the grav-couches with real clothing on? Or at least some way to tailor it to give us some more covering? [Seriously, not only is she modest, but, well, her skin is not something you want to graze against. No way, no how. So if there was a way to tweak her grav-couch, she wanted to find out. Right now.] I'm sure I'm not alone in this when I say that, frankly, I don't want strangers to see me in my skivvies, let alone butt-naked. [And it was a huge health concern for the entire ship, when she was involved.]
